FEBRUARY 50/50 ~ WENDY RIGBY

When Wendy Rigby's beautiful blind dog SAMMIi died just before her "21st BIRTHDAY" she rescued Pippa, a Jack Russell who had been passed around four jokers and she was only only four months old!!!!

As she had the resources and time and the luxury of being able to take her furry baby to work she felt very lucky.
Then on Facebook she stumbled across a DOG RESCUE and an OLD BOY LOOKING FOR A HOME.
So fate had it that "BLACKIE" from Alina Stan" came to live with her.

Sadly BLACKIE died suddenly after only a few months. This was due mostly, the vet believed, to the bad treatment he received on the transport bringing him over!

By that time Wendy had learned more and more of the plight of the poor Romanian street dogs and the utter despair the rescuers them self face each day. This included the poor resources and the need for good transport.
That was it!!!!

She failed miserably as a fosterer for "Speranta". She adopted her beautiful girl Bobbie from them and decided to help these wonderful rescuers to help the poor animals in Romania.

She PERSONALLY FUNDED articulated wagons at around £3k a time. People purchase pallets of food for their chosen rescue or they donate money to assist in the purchase of the food!

She also gets her own wagons to COLLECT donations of AID from Lands End to John o Groats. Once collected she then collates and palletise in her engineering factory in Rochdale.

She buys the pallets and then packs them, some 10ft high. Then they are shrink wrapped , labelled and loaded on to the wagon. (Truck)

This aid and food is a LIFELINE FOR THE RESCUERS and in turn the animals.

She also personally purchases pallets of food for rescuers who don't have many followers that donate but who are just as deserving.

She also funds dogs transport from Romania to UK for FOSTER& ADOPTION thereby ensuring they travel with a reputable transport (unlike that with poor Blackie).

Wendy quotes "I have been lucky enough to have met Alina Stan personally and her dedication to these animals is second to none-this woman is beautiful inside and out-and have become firm friends with other like minded people who are all trying to help these rescuers in their life saving operations. I rarely ask for donations but have personally funded so many wagons lately I am worried it may take me a while to catch up so any help at all I can get would be much appreciated ...our next full wagon leaves on 30th January and will hopefully be arriving in Bucharest 7 days later !!!".

For these reasons I TRULY BELIEVE, Wendy's own personal generosity and dedicated makes her more than a deserving choice for receiving
FEBRUARY 2015's 50/50 fundraising event.

Edina Pasic pictured here:

has saved so many, and they are in shelters in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina; that she is having trouble paying the bills every month. One of my friends who lives in the states has visited Sarajevo, we know this rescue Andjeo Sarajevo (Angels of Sarajevo) is a real rescue not a fraud. She posts Bills and Receipts, so you can see where your money is going..

I am asking you to help her.  If we can't pay some of the back bills the animals will be evicted...

PUSHED OUT INTO THE ARMS OF THE KILLER DOG CATCHERS... You may say oh get real but in Bosnia that is reality. It is also against the current laws but since they get paid per dead body the DOG CATCHERS DO NOT CARE..

These dogs have been in shelters some of them many months and they are now trusting people...

#MyChristmasMyBrokenSpine

I KNOW I ASK AND ASK AND ASK .. you to give funds to rescues..

BUT IF YOU BABY WAS HIT BY A CAR AND HER SPINE BROKEN you would ask for help to wouldn't you??!!

EDINA NEEDS YOU... PLEASE!

Edina Pasic Wrote this on Face Book I copy Pasted to ask you all to help

URGENT!! This girl has a very sad story... She was hit by a car and the impact caused her to become immobile...

People contacted us and we took her to the vet right away, but unfortunately no one can help her here even though she has a chance of survival if she gets surgery...

Maybe a small chance, but there`s still hope... She was looked after and fed by an old lady who is almost 80 years old and has little money. She can`t offer her anything but her love and tears... She broke my heart begging us to save her dog...

I know that this may cost to much , but I don`t know what else to do except try to help her... So now I ask all my friends, there`s only two days left until Christmas and my biggest wish is to save this innocent soul... I beg you to help me...

We had a similar case about a year ago... I think most if you remember FELIX... Since we`re found this little girl, I`ve been looking at his pictures (old and new) and the videos of him, and somehow my heart is telling me that she deserves to enjoy life the same way that he does now...

The look in her eyes is killing me, and I`ve promised her that I`ll do my best to get her help... Please, don`t let us let her down... Let`s help this angel and make her our Christmas present, our happiness and joy because we`ve saved another poor life...

The X-ray pictures are sent to Belgrade. Slovenia and Zagreb and we have received word from Zarko in Zagreb, who will be able to help her... Dear friends, please let us try to help her find happiness in life and shorten her pain...

URGENT APPEAL!!!! Dear friends,

Once again we need to ask you for help. You all know our Laika, who is supposed to travel to her forever home on Monday...

NOTE FROM ME: The Winters In Eastern Europe particularly the Balkan Mountains is SUB ZERRO  TEMPITURES...as low as  minus 40 degrees fahrenheit .. to survive they need high protien foods, they get what we can afford to feed them...

We also had to rent a car so that we could check on the animals in pensions, bring them food and take new pictures...

We also need to pick up Ginger (one of Jela`s cats) from Tuzla because he is also supposed to travel on Monday and we have pick up Tanya Fennel`s cat from Zenica...

Please help us this time also and hopefully we will get our car in a couple of days, latest in a week. We need 210e for a car now, for 6 days, and at least 15-20e for gas every day.

KICKED OUT ON CHRISTMAS

A few years ago I met Ana Johnston An animal activists, she took some dog coats to Bosina for me when she visited them... Last year she visited Sasha Pesic and his shelter with 450 dogs living together with out cages. ONE OF THE BESTS SHELTERS IN THE WORLD.  Even Harmony fund helps him.

BUT SOME ONE IN SERBIA IS ANGRY WITH HIM... he has been given 15 days to remove himself and all 450 dogs...

BUT WHERE DOES HE GO... PLEASE HELP.. PLEASE SING THIS LETTER AND SEND IT TO THE ADDRESSES BELOW.. PLEASE SHARE..

WOULD ANYONE WITH MONEY ( REAL MONEY) BUY HIM PROPERTY, BUILD FENCES, BUILD A FEW BARNS AND HELP HIM MOVE THE DOGS...IF THEY ARE NOT MOVED IF THE DOG CATCHERS GO IN THEY WILL KILL THEM ALL...

AND THEY CAN --------  THESE DOGS TRUST PEOPLE ----- THEY WILL BE EASY KILLS!

KNOW SOMEONE WHO WILL HELP...PLEASE I BEG YOU .... TELL THEM BEG THEM HELP THIS MAN MOVE THESE DOGS SO THEY CAN"T KILL THEM..

 (THE LETTER TO SEND)

To whom it may concern,

It has come to my attention that the Division of municipal and housing Inspection Nis, Serbia (Red Cross municipal) has given an order for 450 dogs in care of Sasa Pesic to be removed within 15 days.

The order was served to Svetlana Dejanovic – Avramovic who is the president of the ‘Drustvo Za Zastitu ZIvotinja Nis’ on the 4th of December 2014. Reference Number 355-700/2014-06.

I am an animal welfare activists and we have been made aware of the situation mentioned above.
I have great concern for the welfare of these 450 dogs if you insist on their move.

It is unrealistic that 450 live animals can be moved and housed safely in 2 weeks.
Where do you propose that they should go?
Medijana has no room for them.
These dogs we are talking about now, are vaccinated, the environment they’re in is clean and they are contained and therefore do not pose a threat to general public.

The dogs have been there for years because the City of Nis has failed to deal with the stray population according to Serbian Animal Welfare laws. These dogs have been vaccinated, neutered and fed by a number of foreign organisations.

Foreigns Animal Welfare organisations from Austria, USA, Belgium and UK offer free spaying and neutering for the privately owned pets as well as strays, again something that the city of Nis is not doing a very good job of.

Over the years, 1500 strays have been taken care of, neutered and rehomed or housed in shelters by foreign organisations. That is 1500 dogs you did not have to fund from the city budget, we will continue to do so as well as try and educate the public about the importance of sterilisation. This was all done via the Drustvo Za Zastitu Zivotinja Nis members who are all volunteers with the help of their dog loving friends from abroad.

Austrian organisations as well as organisations from USA, UK and Belgium visit the shelters across Nis and help out as much as they can. These organisation also bring many people to Nis several times every year. They stay in local hotels, eat at your restaurants, visit your tourist attractions, buy in your shops. As a supporter I spend money in your city!

We are very disappointed that you wish to move the dogs you failed to take care of in the first place away from what is an only safe environment they have ever had. It is my understanding that the City of Nis was meant to build an EU standard approved shelter for stray animals by 31.05.2012.
I urge you to reconsider your decision now. I fully understand that the current shelter is not up to the EU standard, and therefore I ask you to help bring it up to the EU standard, offer an alternative location which is as good as or better to move these dogs to or lastly, extend our stay there for another 12 months.

Cities such as London, UK have shelters in the middle of the city (Battersea Dogs and Cats Home). Also in Austria we have pubic shelters close to residential areas, so does Belgrade.

I ask you to help create a Serbia’s first shelter that is up to EU standard and that welcomes visitors.

Unlike in Serbia, most of Western world does not see dogs as a problem or a pest. They are greatly loved family members and Sasa and his dogs are very popular and have a great international following. It would be a shame having to go public with the story about the City of Nis making 450 dogs homeless through no fault of their own, without making an effort to work out a plan for where these dogs could go.

I think that citizens who have been solving an important public job for years now, without using any resources from the Budget of RS can not be punished for that.
Everybody should go on solving the problem in the best way, finding a solution to improve this shelter till it has a legal status according to serbian law regulatives. It can’t be that city authorities cancel it.

On the contrary, this shelter could be attractive and this city can be proud of it. The relocation of these dogs should be done by JKP Mediana which is a public enterprise that owns an illegal shelter itself.

I eagerly await your response/best regards
