HELP FEED AN ANIMAL - FREE

This may be hard to understand but I live in the Ozark mountains up a dirt road I have no well so I pack in water, where I get my water at I have a friend who has an outside dog, time before last middle of October I was getting water when I noticed the dog was standing out in the rain. I went over to the 50 gallon barrel they had been using as a house for the dog and it had standing water in it. I poured out the water but the dog wouldn't go in it. I finished getting my 2 week supply of water and went home but I was so depressed that I was crying that poor puppy (3 yr old dog - not a puppy) was wet and cold. That after noon I built him a dog house, in parts because it was way to big for my sister and I to pick up. the next day mid morning when I knew or hopped no one was there, we took the dog house down there and put it together.
The dog now barks at me every time I go get water and I have to go pet him.. He just loves his house and is out of the weather.  I tell you this not to brag but to show you that the smallest act of kindness helps those who can't help  themselves. And they know who you are!

My CoCo just loves when I come home from the store. She always expects some kind of treat... Sometimes I do sometimes I don't.

Improperly discarded fishing line cripples and kills and wildlife at an alarming rate.  Birds frequently become entangled in the line, usually resulting in their death though sometimes severing a limbs to free themselves.  Of those few that are able to sacrifice a limb for a chance of survival many will only eventually die when the wound becomes infected.  This is a totally unnecessary and wasteful tragedy that can be easily prevented.  If you fish, remove all line and hooks and take it with you for proper disposal, if you are hiking or bird watching and encounter discarded fishing line (or any other type of string) remove it.

Have you been reading Care2. It has had some wonderful stories about people rescueing animals.  Susposedly we are the top of the chain, but as a member of a animals group, 10 cats, 1 dog, 1 person, I have come to realize we may think we are the smartest, we may think we communicate better... answer is we don't.


Have you loved your pet today?  Can you share just a little of yourself with someone else? Try helping a animal. The shelters for animals are the hardest hit. When we run out of money, for our bills we stop helping charities - charities like animal shelters. Take that dollar you were going to buy a coffee with and give it to your local shelter.

My Pets

Each one of my cats has their own persionality. We start off with Grandma, I got her 4 years ago in Feb. She was a little kitten. Past nursing but not by much. I did not her her fixed befiore she had a litter of kittens. She likes to be petted  At about a year ago she started opening the front door to my house so, I had to put a latch on the door. She'd grab it at the bottom and pull it open, lol smart kitty.

Dreaded Bobcat Tick Disease - Cytauxzoonosis

Scoop, named because you just wanted to scoop him up and love him.
When scoop was about for months old ... I watched him follow a group of deer just like a hunting lion would. Scoop was something special to my heart, and then I lost him.






You might be asking how.. Let me tell you.

Cytauxzoonosis

A Fatal tick-borne illness

This disease is prevalent in certain states of the Southeast and Midwest. 

Missouri is one of them, and supposedly is where the disease was first observed.

There are no clinical signs of cytauxzoonosis during the first 20 days of infection, when the organism is growing within blood vessels throughout the cat’s body. The first signs are seen three to seven days before death occurs due to massive organ failure and bleeding disorders . . . 

When the cat starts showing clinical signs that it is sick, the time clock has started. The cat has five to six days before it is dead. The cells rupture, and the spleen and bone marrow are affected. The cat goes into shock, and it literally has no blood left. Its muscles cramp and the cat has a lot of pain."

May 18th 2007 my precious little kitten Scoop died of cytauxzoonosis.

There is no effective treatment. Veterinary colleges are well aware of this disease, but how many cat owners are?

How many of you like me allow your cats to play outside? I live back in the woods of Missouri, what is there to hurt my cats they all are vaccinated, spayed and I use bug repellant on them. But ticks bite before the repellents work.

One bite of an infected tick can kill your cat.

What the blazes is cytauxzoonosis?

It is a disease carried by ticks infected by feeding on wild bobcats. So your cat plays in the woods picks up a tick and is bitten by it infecting him with Cytauxzoonosis.

CoCo and my ten Cats

Hi,
There is nothing more fun then to talk and brag about your pets. All mine were drop offs, you see I live up a private dirt road, back in the country and people just leave these babies on the side of the road. Me being me I can't ignore them. So its off to the Vets, and then get them over the trauma of being abandoned. I have three black and white cats four tri-colored and three totally black cats. Some of these were my fault because I didn't get the momma to the vet in time before she went into heat. I haven't really named any of them. To many to keep straight..most if sitting on a shelf or high stand will tap me on the head as I walk by sort like bop you on the head... stop and pet me. I call them love and baby and Momma and Grandma

Know I know some are thinking how can she stand the smell of litter boxs for that many cats, I couldn't, hate cat order... I built a Cat run it is 8 ft wide by 24 ft long. One wall is 10 ft the other 7 ft it is roofed and the walls are metal mesh/cloth.... you see where I life there is the dreaded Bob cat Tick sickness which kills a domesticated cat with in 21 days of being bitten - so the cat run.. LOL the neighbors call it the cat house...

Now my dog CoCo, she was about 8-10 weeks old when I got her, she is almost four, part pit. I never chain her up, she has a fully fenced yard 5ft high, she sleeps on my bed... she is an inside dog weighing in at about 50 - 60 pounds. Of course you can tell by her name, her coloring except she has a strap almost like a saddle on her back.

She has eaten cat food since I got her. I feed all of them on demand. She never over eats in fact she sometimes steps back to let the cats eat when they hear fresh food being set out.. Oh guess I forgot, the cats access the cat run via a kitchen window. All litter boxes are out side in the run.
