TO HAVE A FARM or NOT TO HAVE A FARM .... IS NOT THE QUESTION
THE QUESTION IS:
DO YOU WANT TO GIVE CORPORATE FACTORY FARMS AND FOREIGN CORPORATIONS YOUR MISSOURI RIGHTS
WELL DO YOU??
Subject: Please Vote “No” on Amendment 1 on Tuesday – and Forward This Email to Your Contacts
Friend,
Of the major Missouri daily newspapers that have taken a position on Amendment One, 16 of 17 urge citizens to vote “No” on Amendment 1.
Amendment 1 would give corporate factory farms and even foreign corporations constitutional rights to do what they want with our farmland.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch says that Amendment 1 would give “massive out-of-state corporations extra protection in the state constitution.” The Joplin Globe calls Amendment 1 “a measure designed to protect corporate agriculture rather than the traditional family farm.” And the Kansas City Star calls Amendment 1 an "unnecessary and potentially harmful proposal." The Sullivan Journal says Amendment 1 is “a farce.”
Please join me in supporting the Missouri Farmers Union, the Humane Society of Missouri, and the League of Women Voters of Missouri in saying “no” to Amendment 1 on Tuesday. And please help me get out the vote against Amendment 1 by phone-banking or volunteering at a poll near you – you can sign up by clicking here. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1jkkE5EUdcsrXN2-5SWQfwc0fp8S5gonvl0DY4y-YQ3s/viewform
We shouldn’t give foreign corporations extra rights at the expense of our own family farmers, animals, water quality, and the environment. Together, we can keep the power where it belongs - in our hands.
