Will you Spay or Neuter?

Hi,
I was just over at CARE2 where I signed a petition for responsible owners/Parents to Spay or Neuter Your Pet. The over population of Pets would be helped if each of us took responsibility for Spaying or Neutering.  Of course it will not help abuse but education about pet care will.

You wouldn't believe the heart wrenching stories of how animals have been helped. Taken out of situations where they were mistreated, starving, beaten, run over by cars, deserted to starve to death, caught in fishing line, babies falling out of trees... every kind of story you could think of.  And someone like you, yes just like you reaches out and rescues them.  I love reading the stories, although, I must say some have me in tears.
Can you picture putting a rubber band around a puppy's nose so it can't cry then puting it into a box taping that shut and leaving it behind a 7-11 store in 35 below temperatures... the puppy was there long enough that the rubber band had cut into his little face...Thank goodness he was rescued...

Wrong Turn Leads Hiker to Rescue in the Mountains

When school teacher Nina Tchouparova decided to go hiking in the Balkan Mountains of Bulgaria on Sunday morning, little did she know that she would end up carrying out a tiny passenger.
“It was a chance encounter,” Nina said. “I first saw the puppy from the car window, as we had taken the wrong turn. When I saw her sitting on the pavement motionless, lifeless, it was obvious something was wrong.”
Once parked, Nina grabbed a sandwich and went back to where she had just seen the dog. She was still there and she hadn’t moved an inch. “There was a slice of stale bread that had been tossed next to her, yet her gaze was fixated on something invisible far ahead of her, something a living being wouldn’t see,” Nina continued. “The smell of ham and cheese brought her back to our dimension and she dug into the pieces of sandwich I was giving her. The poor pup was merely skin and bone, a shadow holding on to dear life.”

Adopt-A-Thon is back

Kansas City’s original Pet Adopt-A-Thon is back, and better than ever! 

For one weekend only, Wayside Waifs is partnering their 106.5 The Wolf Adopt-A-Thon with the ASPCA National Megamatch and reducing our adoption fees to $25! 


Wayside Waifs and local shelters will be open the same hours and offering reduced adoption fees so together we can find forever homes for for 500 animals in our city! 

Wayside Waifs is packed with more than 300 adoptable dogs, cats, puppies and kittens.   

 
We will be open extended hours for the KC Megamatch Adopt-A-Thon, and 106.5 

The Wolf will be broadcasting live from Wayside all weekend! 

Adopt-A-Thon Hours: 
Friday, March 30th, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday, March 31st, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday, April 1st, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

ADOPT ONLY IF YOUR GOING TO BE THE FOREVER HOME!

"One November evening as I was coming home from work, I noticed a big feline hanging around our building on Manhattan’s Upper West Side — he was hard to miss. Big and fast, he’d paused steps away from the street level entrance to our apartment. I wasn’t sure if he’d paused because he spotted prey or was responding to my soft “Well, hello!”
I immediately ran inside to pop open a can of tuna for him. He wouldn’t come close to the treat with me present, so after speaking softly to him for a moment or two, I went back inside. I peeked out a few moments later, and the tuna can had been licked clean."
