The reason is love!

Hi,
It has been forever since I've written a message for you all. Can you look at the face of this great dog and not wonder what brings the sadness to her eyes.

Like most of the deserted and abandoned street dogs and cats in Eastern Europe. All she wanted was a home.

In this case although, faced with being abandoned as a puppy a great man found her and took her to the home he shared with his brother and sister-in-law. They hated the dog for years the man protected her and supported her on his meager funds.
But the story turns sad here the man being elder, died. His brother took the dog to one of the kill shelters, but friends found her after 2 weeks of searching. she was rescued and is now homed in Germany.

If this story seems unusual, in a way it is, She was rescued... Most dogs and cats in Eastern Europe are beaten to death, poisoned, starved, hit, chased, exposed to sickness, frozen during the sub zero temperatures during the winter.

So you see she was very lucky. She was saved twice...

I have created a webpage for you to use to locate a shelter, group or individual you would like to help feed, house and vet these beautiful animals.  Go to - http://the-reason-is-love.com/  Pick a group to help, then share their information. The more people to help, the more we can save!

Milena Malesevic an earthbound Angel

Hi,
Happy Father's Day to those of you blessed enough to be Father's, or soon to be Fathers... and we can't ever leave out Grandfathers.

Well, Lucy decided to change Milena's video a little, so the old link is no longer working.  This one still has a few errors in it, but minor ones. Nothing of consequence.

Please visit and share and by all means tweet it...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOux43MfUhQ&feature=youtu.be

We need help raising funds.  It is important to get as many Dogs as possible re-homed. It may seem way to far into the future to talk about the coming winter, but it is there just a few just a few short months from now. Those of us who  can sew, are already making padded rain proof winter coats for the dogs who may still be in open shelters. The less expensive shelters have no heating, even if they have roofing. The best is King's Pension (that is the Bosnian term for Shelter). That costs 120.00 Euro per month. Right now 50.00 EURO runs about $64.00. so we are looking at over 100.00 USD per month for any dog there.. But here they are fed, the kennels are heated and the man who runs it works with the dogs getting them used to being handled and helping them build up their confidence. Well worth the charge, but help is needed, to cover it.

You can donate directly to Milena, via http://www.Paypal.com      just use her email address:
milena.malesevic@hotmail.com
A monthly donation of 5.00 - 10.00 dollars  even a one time donation of one dollar buys just that much more to help the street dogs.

The puppy graphic above is just one of the many computer generated, hand drawn, or photos used in the graphics for Milena's store.  Come visit... http://www.cafepress.com/stravingstrays
The link sometimes takes you to the general store instead of Saving Suffering Strays of Sarajevo.. Milena's so please just add the /starvingstrays part...

Have a great Day...

Introducing Milena Malesevic, my hero!

There are times in our life's when a little shame brings us back into the fold.. I am sharing one of those time with you today.

On Face book, I have met and joined a group of people worldwide who are trying to help animal activist  in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The reason I am ashamed is that I can't seem to be motivated to post to this blog daily... What does it take 5 minutes a half-hour??  And yet there is a Lady in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, who spends her days, day after day, year after year going all over Sarajevo and other areas of Bosnia-Herzegovina feeding the homeless, deserted, vile verman - THE STREET DOGS.

Take a minute, no it will take you longer then that just to stop crying; view and share this video introducing you to Milena Malesevic.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRdaVkyGPPg&feature=youtu.be

Who is a dedicated animal activist. The video was created to introduce you to her is as magnicifant as Milena is.
WATCH and share and maybe, just maybe donate even just a dollar to help her help the voiceless, the helpless, the deserted.

WE thank you and know you will be blessed for sharing this...nelda

SICKENING PICTURES - DON"T LOOK!

Dear Friend,
I don't mean to offend you with the pictures included in this posting, but the reality of the fur trade allows nothing else.

Why do we need to wear fur real or what we think is fake fur? Do we consider that an animal is killed to get that fur off the body? Well by the end of this message you will look facts right in the face!

WE think they are killed first to skin them but no more then half are skinned alive. YES SKINNED ALIVE!
Reality is heart breaking sickining and horrible. But what must the dogs feel when this is done to them, What your feeling right now from looking at the pictures does not compare! ....remember the name MARC JACOBS

Real Dog Fur Found Labeled as Fake by Fashion Designer Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs is in hot water after an investigation indicated that the brand mislabeled real fur as fake and used raccoon dog hair on some of its faux fur.

Marc Jacobs fans and animal rights activists got a bit of a shock this week.

These pictures can be placed on any one or number of items you desire.  I will even use your pictures, as long as you created it.. No Copy right violations...

The group is in need of funding there are 20+ dogs that are being adopted in England if they can raise the money to pay the ticket fees.

Concentration Camp for Man’s Best Friend

deaddogs2013
This photograph was taken just a few days ago in Sarajevo, at the dog “shelter” called ‘Prihvatilište KS Prača’, commonly known as ‘Praca’. Praca is a private shelter owned and built by Murai Komerc (a construction company) with contracts with Sarajevo municipalities to take in dogs from the street (on a per dog basis) and to provide them with appropriate care.
Below is a photograph of some of the dog pens – in midday.
pensindarkness
Taking photos in the “shelter” is forbidden. These photographs were taken secretly. In order to visit you have to say which dog you want to visit. You cannot just go and walk in or walk around. Praca is about 45 km away from Sarajevo, and difficult to get to by public transport, thus making it difficult for anyone to visit to check on activities there.
Praca in 2012
Two months after Praca was built (March 2012, it opened on 30th March 2012) reports said there was no electricity or running water in the “shelter”, that there was no fence around the compound, nobody there during the night, not enough food for dogs, no veterinarian. There were 15 workers and 500 dogs.
The following photographs were taken late last year:

An attempt to publicise the situation (with these photographs) last year did not have any results. After that, we did not know what exactly the conditions were in Praca other than most animal friendly citizens in Sarajevo described it as ‘a concentration camp for dogs’.
Praca in 2013
‘”The picture is scary with creepy sounds and incessant barking. Everything is terribly dirty, unfinished buildings, leaking from all sides…. Stench spreads all around. There are many cages facing each other, divided by a narrow corridor. Almost no light enters most of the cages, cages are in pitch dark during the day.  Many cages are floating in water, mud, urine and faeces. Small/young dogs are barking, terrified of bigger dogs that are facing them in opposite cages. Blankets or rugs donated are not used. Workers say: “Don’t you see how much water there is, as soon as we put blankets in or over the cages for cover, they become wet and we have to throw them away … we do not have possibility to wash or dry them …“‘

Hi,
I wanted to help the AWABosnia group by making something to sell in their store, but after checking weighted and flat rate costs to Canada and England from USA. The cost would be more then the item was worth..
So I took my drawings, graphic arts and pictures I had permission to use and created a store front at CafePress.com
This store will give 20% of the sale to the group if you buy from the store. You will be surprised at the different items for sale there.

This is the link: http://www.cafepress.com/bosniaanimalrescuers
The profits go directly to the group's paypal account. Anyone who takes pictures, or draws, paints animal themes,  I'd welcome digital pictures to use.
If you want a specific item with your picture, I can do special orders
Here's hoping it will help increase the monies needed by their group for the animals.
Friendly regards -- Nelda  If you like Specialty items, Go look at the store.

Any Moneys will help buy tickets for 20 dogs who are in Bosnia but being adopted in England. Buy or just donate.
